It starts with a simple tip of a wing and then before you know it, it becomes a full blown wingover. Dramatic? Most certainly. Practical? Absolutely! There is no better way to change direction and rapidly descend than a wingover. Even the young eagles have this one figured out.

There is nothing particularly unusual about seeing a Ring-billed Gull around here in the winter. In fact they are quite common. I just thought this juvenile looked pretty as it was landing on some ice. Some slip, some slide, and others look pretty cool all the way along, like this one.
