For an eagle, a good afternoon basically involves enjoying some sun and digestion. A morning of successful fishing will do that for a bird. You can tell this eagle did well by the bulging crop below its chin. Miss America will sleep well tonight.

This December has remained pretty warm…which keeps a few more Pelicans from heading south. Some are still fishing in the marina here and if you can catch them near sunset it makes for a nice view.
The American Countess riverboat made it’s first voyage through the area the other day. It was met with some interesting weather. After an incredibly hot, dry, and muggy few days, storms broke out all over the place and we got an abundance of welcome rain.
The old Muscatine hotel, opened for business in 1915, and in that time, this city landmark has held slot machines, restaurants, and a nightclub.
