It’s no secret that one of my favorite things to do in the spring is to visit the Kearney Nebraska area and watch the Sandhill Crane migration come through there. I could toss around a lot of superlatives but really none ever do justice to the actual event. You have to see it to believe it. And if you’re a bird nerd, it’s a bucket list kind of thing. Right now, it sounds like they are peaking with an estimated 500,000 birds in the region. I promise if you go, you will see a lot of cranes (and social distancing is possible)! If you can’t travel though, no worries, you can still take a gander at this timeless miracle on the Platte river. Tune in to the Rowe Audubon Crane Cam, at dawn, or dusk, and you’ll see something special.
