Summer time is a busy time for me due to our various seasonal businesses. This means I’m on the phone or computer a lot more helping customers…but I still take time out for a lunch break. And usually I’m not alone. Sometimes I’ll go out back and snap a few shots off of my most consistent acquaintance…a male Ruby Throated Hummingbird. He’s often busy courting a female…which is very cool to watch…look up their courtship flights on Youtube and you’ll see what I mean. If he’s not doing that, he’s guarding his nearby feeder from moochers or having a little nectar to tide himself over. Not a bad partner to spend the midday break with, if you ask me.
