I’ve been to many airshows over the years…with the vast majority being in the Quad City area. Over the 30+ year period, a number of warbirds have flown over the Davenport skies…but one of the most beautiful would have to be this F4U-4 Corsair, nicknamed the Korean War Hero. As you might guess this plane flew combat missions in the Korean war, over 200 in fact. It was beautifully restored over a 10 year period by Joe and Jim Tobul, with the first post restoration flight on December 8th, 1991. Jim is still flying it in airshows to this day.
